BSU Students Visit Museum of Victims of Political Repression
Students of Baku State University (BSU), organized by the “YENİ Klub” and “Model OIS” clubs, visited the Museum of Victims of Political Repression located in the administrative building of the State Border Service.
During the visit, students explored the museum, established in 2019, which reflects the repressions carried out between the 1920s and 1950s, when tens of thousands of intellectuals and citizens were persecuted. Although victims were rehabilitated in the late 1950s, these events were officially acknowledged only after independence, with the adoption of the 1996 law on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression.
The building itself once housed key state repression bodies, with its basement used for detention, interrogation, and executions. Today, the museum serves to preserve the memory of the victims and educate younger generations about this tragic period.
The visit concluded with discussions on the importance of remembering history.
