BSU Studies Psychosocial Rehabilitation of Patients with Mental Disorders
A scientific seminar titled “Psychological Needs of Patients with Severe Mental Disorders in Azerbaijan and the Study of Psychosocial Rehabilitation” was held at the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology at Baku State University (BSU).
The presentation was delivered by doctoral student Seyyare Yusubova, who discussed the psychological and social needs of patients with severe mental disorders and the challenges they face in adapting to society. She emphasized the important role of psychosocial rehabilitation in improving patients’ emotional stability, social integration, and overall quality of life.
The speaker also highlighted international experience in psychosocial rehabilitation and the potential for applying these approaches in Azerbaijan. She noted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach involving psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists.
The seminar also addressed the need to strengthen research, develop rehabilitation services, and expand social support mechanisms aimed at reducing stigma and facilitating the reintegration of patients into society.
