Ramil Hasanov, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU), has conducted scientific research expedition in Gizilaghaj National Park.

The primary objective of the study was to gain a deeper understanding of the park’s biodiversity and assess ongoing ecosystem dynamics. The research focused on the distribution and behavioral characteristics of nesting bird species, as well as the species composition of reptiles and amphibians inhabiting the park. In addition, observations were carried out to determine the daily activity patterns of predatory mammals.

As part of the study, nesting birds were monitored, and the species diversity and survival rates of their chicks were assessed. Researchers also examined the current condition of local ecosystems and evaluated the diversity of the region’s flora and fauna.

A further component of the research involved assessing the impact of climate change and the ongoing decline in the Caspian Sea’s water level on the park’s landscape types and ecological balance.

Such studies are of considerable scientific importance for biodiversity conservation, sustainable ecosystem management, and the development of ecotourism in specially protected natural areas.
