Baku State University (BSU) is establishing a Centre for Earth Sciences and Environmental Research following a decision adopted at a meeting of the university’s Academic Council.
The new centre aims to coordinate and expand research in Earth sciences, environmental protection, climate change, natural resource management and sustainable development.
It will bring together research in geology, geography, ecology, geophysics and related disciplines, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, encourage the use of modern research methods and enhance the practical application of scientific findings.
The centre will also support comprehensive studies on climate change impacts, water and soil resource management, biodiversity conservation and environmental risk assessment. In addition, it will facilitate cooperation with national and international research institutions, the development of grant-funded projects and the commercialisation of research outcomes.
The initiative is expected to strengthen BSU’s research capacity, contribute to addressing pressing environmental and geological challenges, and enhance the university’s standing in the international research community.
