BSU to Launch 42 New Master’s Specializations in 2026/2027 Academic Year
In line with evolving labor market demands and emerging trends in higher education, Baku State University (BSU) will introduce 42 new master’s specializations across its faculties in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The new programs have been designed to prepare highly qualified specialists in strategically important fields, including international relations, artificial intelligence, climate change adaptation, food and pharmaceutical chemistry, bioinformatics, strategic communications, and environmental management.
The Faculty of International Relations and Economics will offer seven new specializations: International Security, Foreign Policy and Integration Processes of Turkic States, Geopolitics, Strategic Communications in Public Administration, Political Analytics and Strategic Studies, Public Policy and Governance, and Strategic Management.
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology will introduce seven new programs: Teaching and Learning Organization, Philosophy of Science, Theory and History of Ethics, History of Philosophical Thought of Turkic Peoples, Applied Psychology, Clinical Social Work, and Social Work with Diverse Population Groups.
The Faculty of Geology will launch four specializations: Petrology, Geoecology, Geology of Oil and Gas Basins, and Oil, Gas and Mining Geophysics.
The Faculty of Physics will offer four new programs: Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, Polymer Physics, Photonics and Optics, and Plasma Physics and Technology.
The Faculty of Journalism will introduce Economic Journalism, Online and Multimedia Journalism, and Public Relations.
The Faculty of Geography will launch specializations in Political Geography, Geography of the Turkic World, and Climate Change Adaptation.
The Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science will offer programs in Environmental Expertise, Environmental Management, and Land and Real Estate Cadastre.
The Faculty of Biology will introduce Biomedical Materials, Bioinformatics, and Industrial Microbiology.
The Faculty of Chemistry will launch Food Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics will offer specializations in Artificial Intelligence and Cryptology.
The Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics will introduce Composite Materials Mechanics and Mechatronic Modules.
The Faculty of Law will launch a new specialization in the Right to a Fair Trial.
In addition, the Faculty of Information and Document Management will introduce Bibliometric Technologies in Information Activities.
The introduction of these new master’s specializations reflects BSU’s commitment to aligning its academic programs with national development priorities, technological advancements, and the growing needs of the labor market. The new programs are expected to enhance the university’s capacity to prepare competitive professionals equipped with modern knowledge and practical skills.
