The Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University (BSU) organized an event in honor of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty."

Opening the event, Deputy Dean Nigar Ismailzade emphasized the historical significance of the first Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was adopted on November 12, 1995, under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. She highlighted that the Constitution laid the foundation for key state principles, including the protection of independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as the establishment of a legal and secular state committed to peaceful international cooperation.

The event featured a keynote address by Rizvan Nabiyev, Member of the Milli Majlis and Chairman of the Azerbaijani Delegation to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. In his speech titled “The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in International Relations,” he spoke about the increasing role of parliaments in shaping foreign policy and advancing global political agendas. He underlined the achievements of Azerbaijani diplomacy in defending national interests and promoting the country’s status as a regional and global leader.

Dean of the Faculty, Aydan Khandan, expressed gratitude for the valuable insights shared during the discussion, noting that the presentation offered students a deeper understanding of diplomacy and international relations.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students had the opportunity to engage with the speaker and ask questions related to the topic.
