Centenary of Baku State University celebrated in Vienna
Centenary of Baku State University (BSU) was celebrated in Vienna, Austria.
An official reception to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Baku State University was held at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna. The delegation of Baku State University headed by rector Elchin Babayev, Austrian state and government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations in Vienna, business circles, as well Azerbaijani compatriots attended the event.
The head of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna Leyla Gasimova, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Austria Galib Israfilov and rector Elchin Babayev delivered a speech at this event.
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev thanked Azerbaijani Cultural Center for having hosted the event and expressed his appreciation for the work being done by the Center. Elchin Babayev noted that according to the decree of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev the 100th anniversary of Baku State University is widely celebrated, including at the UNESCO General Secretariat in Paris. He said that Baku State University is known as a leader of educational institutions, has a rich history and today it is known as one of the most famous scientific and educational centers of Republic of Azerbaijan. The University has been the center of thought and national thinking. Azerbaijan’s famous politician, Heydar Aliyev and thousands of well-known scientists, intellectuals, and outstanding diplomats have graduated from this university.
At the end of his speech, the rector Elchin Babayev presented the head of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center Leila Gasimova with a diploma of honor from BSU.
