The Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Chile, Giancarlo Alberti Barrios, the Chief Astronomer of the ALMA Observatory in that country, David Rebolledo, and specialist Nicolas Lira, visited Baku State University.

Rector Elchin Babayev provided detailed information about BSU and the Department of Astrophysics, noting that the department was established in 1975 on the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and focuses on training specialists.

Elchin Babayev emphasized the potential for cooperation between BSU and the ALMA Observatory in the areas of student and research staff exchanges, business trips, and training specialists in radio astronomy and other fields.

The Chargé d'Affaires of Chile, Giancarlo Alberti Barrios, stated that the ALMA Observatory collaborates with 20 countries, adding that he would like to see Azerbaijan among them.

Then, the Chilean astronomers met with the faculty and students of the Faculty of Physics.
