Conference in Eskişehir Co-Organized by Baku State University
A panel conference titled “The Armenian Issue, Genocide, and Deportations Committed Against Azerbaijanis in the 20th Century” was held in Eskişehir through the joint organization of Baku State University (BSU), the Zefer Public Association for Support of Martyrs’ Families, Anadolu University, the Eskişehir-Azerbaijan Association, and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Türkiye.
The event was moderated by Professor Burhan Sayılır, Head of the Heydar Aliyev Center for Implementation and Research at Anadolu University, who opened the session with an overview of the conference.
Opening remarks were delivered by Sevinj Orujova, Chairperson of the Zefer Public Association; Ofelya Salmanova, Manager of the Education Development Fund and spouse of the martyred Major General Polad Hashimov; and Javid Aydın, Chairperson of the Eskişehir-Azerbaijan Association. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of raising international awareness about the genocides committed against the Azerbaijani people in the 20th century, based on historical evidence.
During the panel session, reports were presented by Professor Gökhan Güneysu of Anadolu University and Associate Professor Aydın Mammadov of BSU. Their presentations examined the genocides against Azerbaijanis in the 20th century, drawing on archival sources and historical documents, and offering a scholarly analysis of the causes and consequences of these events.
The conference concluded with a thematic Q&A session, allowing participants to engage in further discussion on the topic.
