Delegation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus visit BSU
A delegation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) visited Baku State University (BSU). The visit was organized with the support of the Public Association for the Support of Martyrs' Families "Zafer".
The delegation included public figures from the TRNC, members of martyrs' families, and representatives of higher education institutions. The guests first laid flowers at the monument erected in memory of the martyrs, then familiarized themselves with the "Victory History" auditorium at BSU
Rector Elchin Babayev noted that with fraternal Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which are part of the Turkic world, we share both joy and sorrow, having common roots, language, religion, national, and moral values: "In recent years, the Turkic world has been strengthening in economic, political, social, cultural, and military spheres. In order to further strengthen this unity, scientific, educational institutions, and public organizations of Turkic-speaking countries face important tasks."
Member of the BSU Public Oversight Council and Chairperson of the Public Association for the Support of Martyrs' Families "Zafer" Sevinj Orudjeva told the guests about the dedication of the BSU staff both on the front lines and in the rear during the Patriotic War. She noted that 22 graduates and students of the university reached the pinnacle of martyrdom. Currently, more than 200 participants in the Patriotic War and about 10 members of martyrs' families are studying at BSU.
Advisor to the President of the TRNC Latif Akça and Chairperson of the "Association of Martyrs' Families and Disabled Veterans" Gürsel Benan emphasized the importance of joint projects between the two countries, joint events of civil societies, scientific and educational institutions, cooperation, and mutual visits.
