Department of Astrophysics, Baku State University: Geomagnetic Storm Alert for November 28-29
The Department of Astrophysics at the Faculty of Physics, Baku State University, reports that a geomagnetic storm is anticipated from November 28 to November 29, triggered by solar flares impacting Earth.
Solar activity is expected to remain at a moderately high level. This includes the likelihood of M-class flares (R1-R2 on the radio blackout scale, causing minor disruptions) and the potential for X-class flares (R3, strong disruptions). Elevated geoactivity and intensified solar wind parameters are predicted due to high-speed streams from coronal holes.
From the night of November 28 until approximately 12:00 PM on November 29, the geomagnetic storm is projected to range between G1 (weak) and G2 (moderate) levels. During this time, the Kp index, which measures geomagnetic storm strength on a 10-point scale, is expected to vary between 4 and 6.
By 6:00 PM on November 29, geomagnetic activity is forecasted to return to normal background levels.
