An EcoEnergy charging station, designed to supply electricity to electric vehicles using renewable energy sources, has been officially launched on the campus of Baku State University (BSU). The project was implemented in partnership with BSU and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the state's strategic focus on promoting green energy and a green economy. He noted that BSU, as a leading institution of higher education in Azerbaijan, is proud to contribute to these national priorities. The newly launched station allows university staff and students to utilize clean energy generated from both solar and wind sources.

Rector Babayev highlighted that the “Clean-Charge” AC Charging Station project was among the winners of KOBİA’s 5th Grant Competition, underscoring the university's commitment to science, innovation, and sustainable development. He also noted that the station will serve not only as a practical facility but also as a learning tool integrated into the educational process at BSU.

Chairman of KOBİA, Orkhan Mammadov, stated that supporting innovative, eco-friendly projects remains a priority for the agency. He stressed that the cooperation agreement between KOBİA and BSU is being successfully realized, with approximately 20,000 manats allocated for the establishment of the Clean-Charge station. According to him, the initiative will benefit not only university students and staff but also local entrepreneurs.

Turhan Suleyman, Head of the Science and Higher Education Policy Department at the Ministry of Science and Education, underlined the importance of such projects in shaping modern, sustainable universities. He also pointed out the need for diversified funding sources in higher education, adding that the Ministry will continue to support projects that contribute to public welfare.

Ilyas Nasibov, Project Manager and Director of the BSU Center for Student Scientific and Technical Creativity, explained that the goal of the initiative is to reduce carbon emissions by producing clean energy on-site. He noted that the station’s total capacity is 22 kWh, and its main objective is to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals by enabling fast and eco-friendly electric vehicle charging.

Ilkin Mustafayev, a blogger and advocate for electric vehicles and green technologies, praised the project and stressed the need to expand the number of renewable energy-based charging stations across the country.

The event concluded with a live demonstration of the electric vehicle charging process at the EcoEnergy station.
