The Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University (BSU) hosted an event titled “Khojaly Through the Eyes of Faculty Members” to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

Deputy Dean of the faculty, Samir Mirzayev, emphasized that the atrocity committed in Khojaly was not only a crime against the Azerbaijani people but against all of humanity. He underscored the vital role of journalism students in ensuring that the realities of this tragedy are conveyed to the global community.

Gulu Maharramli, Head of the Department of Multimedia and Electronic Communications, provided an in-depth account of the harrowing period surrounding the Khojaly genocide. Drawing from his experience as an Azerbaijan State Television (AZTV) correspondent, he recounted his visit to Khojaly between December 1991 and January 1992. He described the brutal blockade, the city’s vulnerability, and the desperate plight of its people in the face of impending tragedy.

The event concluded with an interactive session where students posed questions and engaged in discussions.
