Four Chinese Students to Study at Baku State University
Four students from two of the People’s Republic of China’s leading universities — Beijing International Studies University (BISU) and Sun Yat-sen University — will study at Baku State University (BSU) during the 2025/2026 academic year.
Three of them are Azerbaijani Language majors at BISU’s Faculty of Asian Studies. Under university regulations, students majoring in a foreign language must spend one semester in the country of their chosen language during their third year. As part of this requirement, the students will spend a semester at BSU’s Faculty of Philology.
Another student from Sun Yat-sen University will continue master’s studies at BSU’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology this academic year. Dr. Agshin Aliyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at BSU’s Faculty of Asian Studies and a Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, played a key role in implementing the initiative.
Rector Elchin Babayev met with the Chinese students and spoke about BSU’s educational environment, research activities and vibrant student life. He stressed that students from the People’s Republic of China hold a special place among BSU’s international student body, with their educational and social needs always a focus for the university’s leadership. Chinese students also actively participate in BSU’s social and cultural life. Concluding his remarks, the Rector wished the students success and expressed confidence that the knowledge gained at BSU would play an important role in their future careers.
