Georgian Minister of Science and Education visits BSU

On 25 January, a delegation led by Georgian Science and Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari visited Baku State University (BSU).

During the meeting, BSU Rector Elchin Babaev specifically noted that the visit of the delegation, led by the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Georgi Amilakhvari, is evidence of the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education and science. The Rector expressed confidence that this visit would strengthen the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia and open up new opportunities for cooperation, academic exchange, and joint research initiatives in the fields of education and science.

Elchin Babaev emphasized the need to expand cooperation between BSU and higher education institutions in Georgia, stating that BSU is ready for dynamic collaboration with prestigious scientific and educational institutions in Georgia. This partnership could involve mutual exchange of teachers and students, implementation of joint projects, and the signing of dual-degree programs in various fields, according to the Rector.

The Georgian Minister expressed satisfaction with his stay at Azerbaijan's largest and oldest university, acknowledging the dynamic development of Georgian-Azerbaijani relations at a high level over the last 30 years. The Minister mentioned that prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the fields of science and education, teacher and student exchanges, and joint scientific research would contribute to the development of relations between the two nations. According to the guest, the meeting at BSU would give momentum to the development and implementation of new projects.

During the Georgian delegation's visit, discussions took place regarding the advancement of cooperation in the fields of education and science. Georgi Amilakhvari specifically noted that BSU, where Georgian language, regional studies, and Caucasus studies are taught, can play a crucial role in this process.

Ulker Sattarova, the Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, emphasized the importance of strengthening international ties between higher education institutions.

Georgian Ambassador Zurab Pataraia highly appreciated the significance of the visit and expressed confidence that Georgia's connections with Azerbaijan would continue to develop in political, economic, humanitarian, cultural, and other spheres.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Alexander Tsuladze, the Rector of Tbilisi State University, Jaba Samushia, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, David Gurgenidze, the Rector of Kutaisi International University, Alexander Tevzadze, and the Vice-Rector of BSU for International Relations, Shahin Panahov, presented proposals for the expansion of bilateral ties between BSU and educational institutions in Georgia.
