The 1st International Scientific Conference titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan as a New Stage of the National Idea,” jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC), has concluded.

On the second day of the conference, five thematic sessions were held at BSU: “Western Azerbaijan and Historical Memory,” “Legal Frameworks for Return to Western Azerbaijan,” “Regional Security in the Return Discourse: Contemporary Perspectives and Strategic Approaches,” “Cultural Heritage and Moral Memory: Language, Folklore, Press, Books, and the Intellectual Environment,” and “Western Azerbaijan as a Green Homeland.”

Nearly 100 papers were presented during the sessions.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev described the conference discussions as productive and emphasized that the event would continue in the future. He also noted that cooperation between BSU and the Western Azerbaijan Community would be further strengthened and called on Western Azerbaijan research centers operating within various academic and educational institutions to coordinate their efforts and enhance collaboration.

Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community and Member of Parliament Aziz Alakbarli stated that the conference had contributed to the implementation of the objectives outlined in the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan. He noted that the work carried out within the framework of the conference had brought the participants “one step closer to their historical homeland.”
