International Conference on Western Azerbaijan Continues with Panel Discussions
The 1st International Scientific Conference titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan as a New Stage of the National Idea,” jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC), continued with a series of panel discussions.
The first panel, “Return and the New Architecture of Peace in the Region,” was moderated by Fariz Ismailzade, Vice-Rector of ADA University and Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Science and Education. Participants discussed the Return Concept in the context of regional peace, international law, historical justice, and contemporary geopolitical realities.
The second panel, “Return in the Context of International Law and New Realities,” was moderated by MP Rizvan Nabiyev. Speakers highlighted the right of displaced persons and deportees to return to their homeland as a fundamental principle of international law and examined the issue of Western Azerbaijan from a legal perspective.
The third panel, “Historical Memory and National Identity,” was moderated by Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis. Discussions focused on the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan and its role in strengthening national identity.
The panels brought together local and international experts, academics, parliamentarians, and researchers to discuss the historical, legal, political, and cultural dimensions of the return to Western Azerbaijan.
