On April 29, an international conference "Young scientists and researchers in modern biology: theoretical and practical problems" was held at the Baku State University (BSU). The plenary session of the conference was opened by the rector of BSU, academician Abel Maharramov. He noted the importance of such international events, which contributed greatly to the development of the science. Academician Abel Maharramov stressed that 34 international programs and grants were implemented at BSU. “Material-technical base of the Biology Faculty has substantially improved. The laboratories of the Faculty has equipped with modern equipment” said Maharramov. Then Dean of the Biology Faculty, Professor Akif Guliyev, made a presentation on "Recent advances in modern biology."

More than 1000 scientific articles of Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Polish, Czechoslovak and other scientists were presented at this conference.
