International Laboratory of Pharmacological Microbiology to Be Established at BSU

30/10/2025

An International Research Laboratory of Pharmacological Microbiology is being established at the Center for Excellence in Research, Development, and Innovation at Baku State University (BSU) in collaboration with Ajman University (United Arab Emirates).

The decision was approved by the BSU Academic Council. The new laboratory will also cooperate with Koç University (Türkiye).

The laboratory will carry out fundamental and applied research at the intersection of microbiology and pharmacology. Its activities will focus on studying the antimicrobial effects of synthetic and semi-synthetic compounds on microorganisms—particularly on clinical and reference bacterial strains—analyzing their mechanisms of action, and identifying new antimicrobial agents.

In addition, the laboratory aims to promote the integration of education and research, implement grant-funded projects, and facilitate the commercialization of scientific results.
