IQAA Expert Team Begins Accreditation Field Visit at BSU
A field visit by expert commissions within the framework of the international program accreditation conducted by the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (IQAA) has begun at Baku State University. The commissions will conduct an on-site evaluation of 14 master’s-level educational programs.
A meeting was held with representatives of IQAA and the leadership of BSU. Rector Elchin Babayev spoke about the university’s recent achievements and ongoing efforts to strengthen quality assurance. Rector’s Advisor on Quality Assurance Asiman Ilyasov presented information on the development of internal and external quality assurance systems at the university.
IQAA President Sholpan Kalanova highlighted the role of international accreditation in improving higher education quality and outlined the agenda of the visit. Member of the accreditation commission Miras Daulenov introduced the assessment criteria and key principles of the accreditation process.
The accreditation is carried out under a cooperation agreement between BSU and IQAA in accordance with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) of the European Higher Education Area. Experts from Pakistan, Türkiye, Slovenia, and Kazakhstan are participating in the evaluation.
During the visit, experts will meet with academic and administrative staff, students, graduates, and employers, and review educational programs, teaching methods, quality assurance mechanisms, and the university’s facilities.
It should be noted that IQAA is a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and is listed in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education, ensuring that the accreditation process meets international standards.
The field visit is expected to contribute to the assessment and further improvement of educational quality at BSU and to strengthen the university’s international competitiveness.
