Kazakh Folk Band “Turan” Performs Lecture-Concert at BSU
A lecture-concert by the renowned Kazakh folk band “Turan,” known as a musical ambassador of the Turkic world, was held at Baku State University (BSU). The event was organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and dedicated to Azerbaijan’s Independence Day.
Opening the event, President of the Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, congratulated the Azerbaijani people and highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing international role and contributions to Turkic unity. She also noted upcoming joint projects with BSU under a cooperation memorandum.
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural ties within the Turkic world and preserving shared heritage. He also noted the participation of Kazakh students alongside BSU students and staff.
The “Turan” introduced traditional Turkic musical instruments and performed pieces from different Turkic cultures, including the Azerbaijani folk song “Ay Lachin,” creating an interactive concert-lecture format.
At the end of the event, Rector Elchin Babayev presented certificates of appreciation to the guests. The ensemble, known for its global performances, plays over 60 traditional instruments and has performed in more than 130 cities worldwide.
