A scientific seminar titled “Scientific Features and Significance of Using Mathematical Methods in Historical Science” was held at the Faculty of History of Baku State University (BSU) as part of events dedicated to March 27 – Science Day.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Kamala Najafova, spoke about the importance of Science Day and highlighted the state policy aimed at developing science in the country.

Associate Professor of the Department of Source Studies, Historiography, and Methodology Aydin Mamedov delivered a presentation on the topic. He noted that modern historical science is characterized both by the generalization of accumulated knowledge and by the expansion of theoretical and fundamental research problems. According to him, an objective analysis of historical events requires moving beyond ideological approaches and applying scientific methodology, including methods from the exact sciences.

The speaker emphasized that mathematics can significantly support historical research, serving as an effective tool for analyzing complex historical processes and data. Mathematical thinking, he noted, plays an important role not only in calculations but also in developing rational approaches to socio-economic and political issues.
It was noted that the application of mathematical methods has become increasingly important in many areas of modern historical research.
