Model Satellite (CanSat) Training Workshop & Aerospace Symposium, organized in collaboration with ICESCO and BSU, opens in Istanbul
Model Satellite (CanSat) Training Workshop & Aerospace Symposium organized by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) with the support of Baku State University (BSU) started its work on July 31 in Istanbul. The purpose of the event is to increase interest in the space field among students and faculty members of higher educational institutions of the Islamic world, the formation of fundamental knowledge and skills in this area.
The opening of the symposium was addressed by the Director-General of ICESCO, Salim bin Muhammad al-Malik, the Vice-Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU), the Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at ITU, Zahit Mejitoglu, and other official representatives.
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev participated in the opening of the event online. The Rector emphasized that Baku State University places special emphasis on astrophysics and space sciences, as well as international relations in these scientific fields. The Rector particularly highlighted the collaboration between BSU and ICESCO, as well as Istanbul Technical University.
The event will feature satellites of the "CANSAT1919" and "CubeSat" models, prepared by the BSU team. These models of satellite systems can measure the amount and proportion of gases in the air, the magnetic field and the level of humidity. Along with this, the systems are capable of shooting in space and instantly transmitting all data to the Ground Control Station.
The symposium and training will continue until August 5th.
