National Press History Auditorium Opens at Baku State University
As part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, the National Press History Auditorium was officially opened at the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University (BSU).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the faculty’s ongoing reforms aimed at aligning journalism education with contemporary media challenges. He noted the introduction of new programs and specializations, along with the establishment of various specialized facilities. The newly inaugurated auditorium, he said, will honor the rich legacy of Azerbaijani journalism and serve as a key venue for dialogue on the future of the media industry.
Chairman of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, Rashad Majid, described the opening of the auditorium as a significant contribution to the 150th anniversary of the national press and expressed confidence in its future effectiveness.
The event also featured the launch of a special edition of the Bakı Universiteti newspaper, dedicated to this important milestone. Lectures were delivered by Professor Jahangir Mammadli, Head of the Department of National Press History at the Faculty of Journalism, alongside Turkish scholars Professor Aysel Aziz and Professor Nilufer Timisi.
