New Degree Program at BSU: “Regional Studies (Africa)”
Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the Faculty of History of Baku State University (BSU) will begin training specialists in the new degree program “Regional Studies (Africa)”.
As part of the program, students will gain comprehensive knowledge of the history and political systems of African countries, their economic development, international relations and regional integration processes, as well as the continent’s cultural, ethnic and religious diversity, geopolitical significance, contemporary challenges and development prospects.
Particular emphasis will be placed on developing students’ analytical and critical thinking skills, regional analysis, diplomatic communication, assessment of international processes, and research capabilities.
The launch of the new program is particularly relevant amid the expanding political, economic, humanitarian and educational cooperation between Azerbaijan and African countries. The program is designed to train highly qualified specialists with a deep understanding of regional and global processes and the skills required by today’s international labor market.
Graduates of the “Regional Studies (Africa)” program will have career opportunities in government institutions, the diplomatic service, international organizations, analytical and research centers, higher education institutions and academic organizations, non-governmental organizations, the media, as well as Azerbaijani and international companies cooperating with African countries.
