Nobel laureate George Smoot gave a lecture at BSU

Rector of Baku State University (BSU), academician Abel Maharramov met with American astrophysicist,  Nobel laureate George Smoot. Maharramov briefed the gest on the BSU`s activity, international relations, programs and grant projects. The rector noted that Azerbaijani scientists used the rich experience of their counterparts in the United States in the field of nanotechnology and innovation.

Later, George Smoot gave a lecture to the students and teachers of the Faculty of Physics and answered their questions. Nobel laureate familiarized himself with the activity of the Nano Research   Centre.

George Fitzgerald Smoot is an American astrophysicist, cosmologist, Nobel laureate. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006 for his work on the Cosmic Background Explorer with John C.Mather that led to the measurement “of the black body form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation”.
