Nobel Prize Laureate John Polanyi had a talk in Nano research center of BSU
Professor, University of Toronto, Canada, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, John Polanyi Prize, visited Baku State University (BSU). During a meeting with the rector of BSU, academician Abel Maharramov, have been discussed the researches carried out by the BSU in various fields of science, including nanotechnology and innovation, exchanged views on preparations of the international scientific journal "Chemistry and physics of low-dimensional systems"
The meeting was continued in Nano research center of BSU with the participation of scientists, masters and students from physics and chemistry departments. Rector Abel Maharramov said that since opening of the center in 2008, in Nano research center of BSU about 10 Nobel Prize winners had talk.
John Polanyi has been informed of nano researches carried out in Nano center and other research works of BSU, inquired about education programs and training, commending them. Distinguishing guest gave his recommendations on networking research projects with high technology manufactures. Then, the Nobel laureate had a lecture and answered the questions of scientists and students.
Director of the Laboratory of nanotechnology, Professor Mahammadali Ramazanov told the guests about the achievements of the laboratory for 10 years activity, implementation of international grant projects with total cost of $ 7.5 million. US dollars. Professor Mahammadali Ramazanov also highlighted the role of the laboratory to coordinate the relevant researches of the University of Natural Sciences faculties, their intensification and expansion.
John Polanyi and laboratory staff exchanged views on the prospects of scientific cooperation. At the end of the meeting the guest was awarded a diploma "Honorary guest of BSU".
