The opening ceremony of the Pakistan Auditorium, jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the Foundation University of Islamabad (Pakistan), was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

During the ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that the friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are steadily strengthening. He noted that cooperation in science, education, and culture plays a vital role in deepening bilateral ties. Integration with Pakistan’s higher education and research institutions, he added, is an important component of BSU’s international relations.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, noted that relations between the two countries are rooted in historical ties, mutual trust, and shared values. He emphasized the important role of academic cooperation, particularly between universities, in fostering mutual understanding between the two peoples. The ambassador praised the teaching of Urdu at BSU and described the Pakistan Auditorium as a tangible symbol of cultural and academic exchange, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued support for such initiatives.

Rector of the Foundation University of Islamabad, Muhammad Kalem Asif, also underscored the importance of cooperation with BSU. He highlighted the wide opportunities for joint research, academic exchange programs, and collaborative projects and events. Describing the opening of the Pakistan Auditorium as a significant milestone, he expressed confidence that it would contribute to the further development of academic and cultural ties between the two institutions.

The ceremony concluded with the screening of a video on Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations prepared by BSU students of Oriental Studies. In addition, students majoring in Regional Studies (Pakistan) recited poetry in Urdu.
