The Faculty of Philology of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted an online scientific seminar "The evolution of the alphabets, the history of the alphabets used by Turkic languages". The event was organized by the Turkological Association of Baku State University.

The seminar was attended by BSU faculty and students as well as guests from Turkey, Uzbekistan and Hungary.

Timur Kocaoglu, professor at Michigan State University, USA made presentation on the evolution of the alphabets and the history of the alphabets used by Turkic languages. He stressed that the earliest writing system in the world was Sumerian script. He also touched upon the modern problems of the Turkic alphabets.
