A lecture titled “National Model of the Press of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev” was held at Baku State University (BSU), featuring Professor Gulu Maharramli, Head of the Department of Multimedia and Electronic Communications.

In his address, Professor Maharramli highlighted that following national leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to leadership, he revived and strengthened the traditions of the national press. He emphasized that today’s modern Azerbaijani media landscape continues to evolve based on the foundations laid during that era.

Professor Maharramli noted that under Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, the media was institutionalized as the fourth estate, an essential pillar of the country’s political and social system. He cited several pivotal reforms introduced during that period: the establishment of a comprehensive legal framework for the press, significant improvements to media infrastructure, the abolition of censorship, the cancellation of media debt, and various presidential decrees aimed at expanding journalistic activity.

Professor Maharramli concluded by noting that President Ilham Aliyev has successfully continued this vision, fostering further development of Azerbaijani journalism.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students asked questions about the current state and future prospects of the national media.
