Professor Misir Mardanov Hosts Master Class at BSU
As part of Science Day celebrations on March 27, Baku State University (BSU) hosted a master class by Professor Misir Mardanov, Head of the Department of Higher Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at BSU and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
Professor Mardanov presented a paper titled “A Comparative Analysis of Curricula in Teaching Mathematics at BSU, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, and the University of Helsinki, Finland.”
During the session, he analyzed curricula in teaching mathematics at the three universities, including the number of hours allocated to individual subjects. He highlighted structural features, content, and applied approaches to training specialists, and discussed assessment methods and considerations in the educational process.
The presentation also examined differences and similarities in the Teaching Mathematics programs, covering philosophy, didactics, pedagogical practice, and ethics in teaching methods. Professor Mardanov concluded with practical recommendations for improving Azerbaijani university curricula based on insights from the University of Helsinki.
