The national qualifying round of the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad will take place on February 1 and is open to secondary school students across the country.

The Olympiad is jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU), the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the N. Tusi Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, the Republican Center for Child and Youth Development, and the Society of Amateur Astronomers Public Association.

Students who demonstrate strong results in the qualifying round will advance to the final stage, which will be held at Baku State University. Winners of the Olympiad will receive medals and gifts and will also take part in preparatory training sessions for the 19th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics, scheduled to be held in Vietnam from September 25 to October 5.

Preparatory classes will be conducted by specialists from BSU and the Republican Center for Child and Youth Development. In addition, a summer camp will be organized at the N. Tusi Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory for students selected to represent Azerbaijan at the international Olympiad. The Society of Amateur Astronomers will also provide training sessions on the practical use of telescopes. Participation in the international Olympiad is supported by the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Preparatory programs for both the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad and the 19th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics are sponsored by the Tusi-Bom Planetarium.

The Olympiad will be held on February 1 at 11:00 AM via the online examination platform www.oxuyan.az.
