Qualifying Round of the V Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad Announced
The Republican Qualifying Round of the V Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad for schoolchildren will take place on February 1.
The Olympiad aims to foster interest in astronomy, promote its inclusion in education, and prepare winners for the International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics. The event is organized by Baku State University (BSU), the Institute of Education, the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, the Republican Center for the Development of Children and Youth, and the Public Association "Society of Amateur Astronomers."
Schoolchildren who successfully pass the online qualifying stage will advance to the final stage, which will be held at BSU.
Awards and Preparations
Winners of the Olympiad will receive medals and prizes. Additionally, they will be invited to participate in preparatory classes for the 18th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad, scheduled to be held in India from August 11 to 21. These classes will be conducted at the Republican Center for Child and Youth Development.
The Public Association "Society of Amateur Astronomers" will also offer training sessions for students, focusing on the proper use of telescopes.
Both the V Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad and the 18th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad are supported by the general sponsorship of the Tusi-Bohm Planetarium.
