Regional Security Issues and Azerbaijan’s Role Discussed at BSU
A scientific seminar titled “Azerbaijan’s Place and Role in the Creation of a New Security Architecture in the Middle East” was held at the Faculty of History of Baku State University (BSU).
Head of the Department of Asian and African History Igbal Agayev emphasized the importance of scholarly analysis of international security issues, noting that the global security system is undergoing significant transformation, particularly in the Middle East, where the interests of major powers intersect.
Deputy Dean Kamala Najafova highlighted the peace agenda of Ilham Aliyev as an important platform for strengthening stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
The seminar featured a presentation by Elmira Talibzade, a leading analyst at the Caucasus Policy Analysis Center. She discussed recent regional developments involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, emphasizing the growing role of hybrid warfare, cyber operations, and information confrontation. The presentation also addressed international security theories, regional defense spending trends, and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz for global energy security.
The event concluded with an academic discussion on current regional security challenges.
