Results for the “Best article on Arab Literature” competition were announced
In connection with the 73th anniversary of the outstanding oriental expert, first woman-doctor of science in Arab literature, professor Aida Imanguliyeva “Best article on Arab Literature” competition was conducted at Baku State University. On October 10, results for the competition were announced by rector, academician Abel Maharramov. Rector spoke of professor Aida Imanguliyeva’s exceptional contribution to the Oriental Studies.
After graduation from the oriental faculty of the Azerbaijan State University in 1962, Aida Imanguliyeva defended candidate dissertation in 1966 and doctoral dissertation in 1989. Imanguliyeva passed the way from the junior research worker of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Science of Azerbaijan to the director of this scientific institution.
She has been the member of the presidium of the Oriental Studies Society, Coordination Council for the Study of Oriental Literature of the former USSR. Aida Imanguliyeva was one of the main creator of the course of new Arab literature in the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan.
Aida Imanguliyeva’s sphere of activity was broad and comprehensive. She studied the synthesis of cultural traditions of the West and East, development of the artistic style and formation of new trends in literature. This created a very important ground for future studies of not only Arab literature but also the whole new literature of the East.
Imanguliyeva is the author of three monographs (Mikhail Nuayme, Moscow, 1975, Jubran Halil Jubran, Baku 1975, Coryphées of new Arabian literature, Baku, 1991) and over 70 scientific articles. She was also the editor of numerous scientific works in the sphere of oriental philology.
