Results of the Qualifying Round of the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad Announced
The first stage of the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad among secondary school students has been completed. A total of 2,133 students registered to participate in the online Olympiad.
According to the decision of the organizing committee, participants who scored 65 or more points out of a possible 100 advanced to the final round. Qualified students will be provided with detailed information about the next stage.
The winners of the final round will take part in preparatory classes for the 19th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics, which will be held in Vietnam.
The preparatory program will be organized by experts from Baku State University and the Republican Center for Child and Youth Development, both at the university and at the Center itself. In addition, a week-long summer camp will be held at the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory for selected team members. The Amateur Astronomers’ Society will conduct training sessions on telescope operation for schoolchildren. The national team will participate in the international Olympiad with the support of the Institute of Education.
Preparatory classes for both the Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad and the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad are being conducted with the support of the Tusi-Bom Planetarium.
