The Russian Center of Baku State University (BSU) and the Rossotrudnichestvo (The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation) representation in Azerbaijan organized an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Speaking at the event, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev stated that this year, the Azerbaijani people commemorate the anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev with love and respect. The great leader is a unique individual who opened a bright new page in Azerbaijan's statehood history.

Elchin Babayev emphasized that Azerbaijan and Russia enjoy successful cooperation relations in the fields of science, education, and the cultural-humanitarian sphere. He highlighted the significant role that higher education institutions play in advancing these relationships.

The Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, acknowledged the national leader Heydar Aliyev as a prominent figure who made an exceptional contribution to Azerbaijan's development. The Ambassador noted that the great leader Heydar Aliyev played a significant role in the development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations.

The event featured speeches from Mikhail Zabelin, a member of the Milli Majlis and the Chairman of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan; Samir Gamidov, Head of the department for cooperation with Higher and Secondary Specialized Educational Institutions of the State Agency for Science and Education; Irek Zinnurov, Head of the Azerbaijani representation of Rossotrudnichestvo; Uzeir Aliyev, Chairman of the public association "Azerbaijan Association of Graduates from Russian (Soviet) Universities"; and Professor of BSU and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Azad Rzaev.
