Baku State University (BSU) hosted a meeting with a delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili.

During the meeting, Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the strong and evolving relations of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Arab countries. He noted that these ties were initially established by the national leader Heydar Aliyev and have since been successfully continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The rector emphasized that Azerbaijan and the Arab states support each other within international organizations.

Rector Babayev also spoke about the Faculty of Oriental Studies—one of the university's oldest faculties—and shared information about Arabic language education and the achievements in this field. He underscored BSU’s openness to broader cooperation, including the importance of signing memorandums of understanding with universities in Arab countries and developing dual degree programs.

Ambassador Al-Jutaili, in turn, emphasized that collaboration in science and education significantly contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan. He expressed optimism about the potential of establishing institutional ties between BSU and Saudi universities, which could open up new opportunities for both parties.

The meeting concluded with discussions on establishing academic partnerships, signing cooperation agreements, launching dual degree programs, facilitating student and faculty exchanges, and initiating joint research projects.
