Republican Scientific Conference "Training of Library and Information Professionals in Azerbaijan: traditions and modernity", jointly organized by the Library and Information Faculty of the university and the National Library of Azerbaijan was held at BSU. The event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Honored Scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Abuzar Khalafov.

Rector's advisor for Science and Education, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Aydin Kazimzadeh mentioned Abuzar Khalafov’s life. He spoke about Abuzar Khalafov’s exceptional contribution to the development of Library and Information Science in Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Kerim Tairov, Director of Presidential Library Mayil Ahmedov , Chief Adviser of the Editorial and Publishing Department of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehman Namazov, Director of the Scientific Library of BSU Nigar Ismayilova.

Head of the Department of Library Science Elchin Akhmedov made a presentation on the topic "The role of Abuzar Khalafov in training of Library and Information Professionals in Azerbaijan".
