01/04/2026
A scientific seminar dedicated to International Bird Day was held at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU). Doctoral student Ramil Hasanov presented a report titled “Rare Birds of Azerbaijan and Their Protection.”
He highlighted Azerbaijan’s rich bird diversity—over 400 species, including 78 listed in the Red Book—due to its location along major migration routes. The presentation covered the ecological importance of birds, key ornithological areas, threats to avifauna, and conservation measures.
Hasanov also shared results from monitoring conducted in 2024–2026, recording 211 species, 27 of which have protected status. The seminar concluded with a Q&A session.
