The Physics Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a scientific seminar.

Professor Vagif Salmanov, Head of the Department of the Physics of a Semiconductor spoke made presentation entitled "Stages of development of lasers". He said that along with nuclear power and computer technology, laser has been one of the most important inventions of the last century. He also stressed that Albert Einstein first theorized about the stimulation of light emission way back in 1916.

Vagif Salmanov also spoke about the study of nonlinear optical phenomena as well as   excitons in layered semiconductors and the optical parameters of laser beams.
