Seminar at BSU Explores Publishing Books on Western Azerbaijan’s History
A scientific seminar dedicated to Science Day on March 27 was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU).
During the seminar, Peri Khalilova, a master's student from BSU’s Department of Editorial and Publishing, presented a report titled "Publishing Books on the History of Western Azerbaijan."
In her presentation, Khalilova highlighted the growing relevance of Western Azerbaijan’s history, particularly following the large-scale return to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur after the victorious 44-day Patriotic War. She underscored the need for comprehensive research on the subject and detailed her use of diverse sources, including Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Russian materials.
Her study analyzed books covering the history of Western Azerbaijan’s regions—the ancient homeland of Azerbaijani Turks—including the Irevan Khanate. She examined databases and online resources related to the topic, tracing the evolution of book publishing on Western Azerbaijan’s history. Khalilova emphasized the significance of these books in understanding socio-political developments and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
Furthermore, the report explored the artistic design, linguistic and stylistic features, and editorial aspects of these publications. A comparative analysis of different editions was conducted, revealing trends in publication frequency and circulation figures.
The seminar concluded with an engaging discussion, where participants exchanged insights and perspectives on the topic.
