South African Delegation Visits BSU
A delegation led by Nomusa Dube-Ncube, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training of the Republic of South Africa, visited Baku State University (BSU).
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the prospects for expanding scientific and educational cooperation between Azerbaijan and South Africa, noting that the university places special emphasis on strengthening international partnerships. He stressed that collaboration with African countries, including South Africa, holds particular importance for BSU.
In her remarks, Deputy Minister Nomusa Dube-Ncube spoke about ongoing higher education reforms in South Africa, as well as best practices in training and vocational education aligned with labor market demands. She emphasized opportunities for enhancing inter-university cooperation, promoting student and faculty exchanges, and advancing joint research initiatives.
During the meeting, the sides discussed joint master’s and doctoral programs, digital education opportunities, innovative projects, and other potential areas of academic collaboration.
The delegation also met with students from African countries studying at BSU, inquiring about their academic experience and future aspirations. The guests praised BSU’s multicultural environment and the students’ high level of academic preparedness.
The visit concluded with a tour of the university’s academic buildings, museums, and laboratories, where the delegation was introduced to BSU’s scientific infrastructure, innovative projects, and modern educational facilities.
