The international webinar “GNSS Training”, jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the Center for Spatial Information Science (CSIS) of the University of Tokyo, was successfully held on October 7–11, 2025. The event was also supported by the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG).

The three-day online training was dedicated to the scientific and practical foundations of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) technologies. The sessions were attended by BSU faculty members and students, as well as specialists from various professional fields.

The training was led by Dr. Dinesh Manandhar, a leading researcher at CSIS, University of Tokyo, and an internationally recognized expert in GNSS technologies, high-precision positioning methods, real-time navigation systems, and satellite data processing. Dr. Manandhar has conducted extensive research on GNSS applications, including the development of RTKLIB software and methods for high-precision position calculation. He also contributes to advancing GNSS education and practical applications through collaborative projects with universities and research institutions across Asia and Europe.

The webinar program covered the following main topics:
· Structure of GNSS systems, satellite signals, and coordinate systems;
· Position accuracy, GNSS errors, and high-precision measurement methods (DGPS, RTK, PPP, MADOCA-PPP);
· GNSS data processing and analysis using RTKLIB software;
· Real-time data processing and accuracy comparisons.

Participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in GNSS data processing through real-time exercises conducted under the joint guidance of trainers from Tokyo and Baku.

During the closing discussions, participants exchanged views on the application of GNSS technologies in traffic management, early warning systems, and environmental monitoring.

The successful completion of the training represents an important step in strengthening BSU’s international cooperation and integrating new technologies into the teaching of modern geographic information systems (GIS).
