From 12 to 17 December, the delegation from Baku State University (BSU) headed by the rector, academician Abel Maharramov visited the Republic of Korea. The delegation got acquainted with activities of the leading Universities of the country and visited techno parks.  During the visit, implemented by the support of Korean Fund, the guests from Azerbaijan have been to four Universities of two cities of Korea – Seoul and Daejeon, where they held a series of meetings. Within the meetings, the Academician Abel Maharramov was informed of the local Universities’ activities; special presentations also took place in the program. In turn, the Rector of the BSU talked about conducted reforms, progressive social and economic development of Azerbaijan, including the field of science and education.

Talking about the leading University of Azerbaijan,  the BSU, the rector Abel Maharramov mentioned the order of the president Ilham Aliyev on the issue of education integration of the country into the world education system. In this case, it is very important to get acquainted with an experience of the leading Universities of the world.

A series of cooperation documents between the BSU and Korean Universities have been signed within the meetings.  The documents include exchange of students and lecturers.  The Delegation of BSU also got acquainted with the activities of Korean Universities’ techno parks. There have been created industrial-technological complexes in these parks, which are directed to the development of education and industrial process. There are also libraries, laboratories, and a number of Research Departments there. The target is to direct theoretical knowledge of students towards production, better training of specialists. Within the visit, the Academician Abel Maharramov met with Azerbaijani students, who study in Korea. The Rector of the BSU got interested in the training level and the problems of our students, mentioning that Azerbaijan needs highly qualified specialists. The students said that they always feel the support of Azerbaijan.
