Three BSU Research Projects Win Azerbaijan Science Foundation Grants

Three research projects led by scientists from Baku State University (BSU) have been awarded grants in the Azerbaijan Science Foundation’s 2026 main grant competition.

The winning projects are:

•    “Development and Study of a Technology for Synthesizing Therapeutic Nanoparticles in Extracts of Medicinal Plants of the Azerbaijani Flora” — led by Elshad Gurbanov, Head of the Department of Botany and Plant Physiology at BSU’s Faculty of Biology. 
•    “Design of New Conductive Platforms through Electronic Reconstruction and Engineering of Defect States” — led by Aida Ahmadova, Lecturer at the Department of General Physics and Methods of Teaching Physics at the Faculty of Physics. 
•    “Spatial Analysis of Historical-Cultural and Ethnocultural Heritage Resources and Assessment of Tourism Potential in the Karabakh and East Zangezur Economic Regions” — led by Vugar Dargahov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economic and Political Geography and Tourism of Foreign Countries at the Faculty of Geography.

The projects cover research areas including nanotechnology and medicinal plants, advanced materials and physics, and the study of cultural heritage and tourism potential, reflecting the interdisciplinary scope of research conducted at BSU.
