Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün, paid an official visit to Baku State University (BSU).

Rector Elchin Babayev warmly welcomed the ambassador and highlighted the strong and dynamic relations between the two brotherly nations across various fields. He emphasized BSU's productive cooperation with several leading universities in Türkiye, noting that the majority of international students at BSU are Turkish citizens. Rector Babayev also briefed the ambassador on the university’s academic and scientific activities, as well as its international partnerships. He stressed the importance of further enhancing collaboration between BSU and Turkish higher education institutions.

Ambassador Birol Akgün underscored the significance of launching joint projects and promoting student and faculty exchange programs. He expressed the embassy’s commitment to supporting the expansion of academic ties and collaborative initiatives between universities in both countries.

During the visit, the parties exchanged views on the future development of cooperation in education, academic mobility, and joint research.

The ambassador also toured the Heydar Aliyev Museum and the Turkish Room at BSU.
