UNHCR delegation led by Ivan Chernetsky, Head of the Legal Department of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have visited the Faculty of Law of Baku State University (BSU).

The Dean of the Faculty Zaur Aliyev informed the guests about the cooperation between the Faculty and various UN agencies and the High Commissioner for Human Rights. ‘The visit of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham  Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to Karabakh and East Zangezur demonstrated to the whole world that Azerbaijan is actively rebuilding its liberated territories’, said Zaur Aliyev. ‘The destruction of the Karabakh region during Armenia's occupation should be brought to the International Court of Justice. It is necessary to ask for compensation by bringing them to the International Court of Justice’, said Zaur Aliyev.

Ivan Chernetsky, highly appreciated the activities of the Faculty of Law, including the cooperation with the UN in the field of legal education, and expressed interest in large-scale and regular cooperation.

The meeting discussed the issues of further cooperation in the field of legal education.
