Uzbek Media Delegation Visits BSU
Baku State University (BSU) hosted a meeting with Uzbek journalists participating in the 2nd Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Media Forum on “Digital Transformation and Media.”
Welcoming the delegation, Vugar Aliyev, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, highlighted that relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan — including in the field of media — are at a high level. He stressed the importance of joint media projects between the two fraternal nations that share a common history, language, and culture. Dean Aliyev also briefed the guests on the faculty’s efforts in training professional journalists, noting that BSU was the first university in the post-Soviet space to offer higher education in journalism.
Rauf Hasanov, Head of BSU’s Department of International Relations, provided information on the university’s educational, research, and international activities. He underlined that BSU has strengthened cooperation with Uzbek universities in recent years, signing bilateral agreements and implementing student and faculty exchange programs.
The meeting also featured contributions from Dzhakhangir Mammadli, Head of the Department of National Press History; Khatira Huseynova, Head of the Department of New Media and Communication Theory; and Aynur Nasirova, Head of the Department of International Journalism and Information Policy. They emphasized that media cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan serves the common interests of both countries.
The Uzbek guests, in turn, shared insights on the activities of newspapers, online news platforms, and news agencies in Uzbekistan, introduced the media outlets they represent, and underlined the importance of expanding cooperation in journalism education.
Following the discussions, the delegation was acquainted with the faculty’s structure and specialized classrooms.
