Baku State University (BSU) hosted a meeting between faculty members, young researchers, and Alexander Biryukov, Vice President for Eastern Europe at Springer Nature.

In his presentation, Alexander Biryukov provided comprehensive insights into the capabilities and resources offered by Springer Nature, with a particular focus on Open Access initiatives available to researchers in Azerbaijan. He noted that the organization receives over 1.5 million article submissions annually, publishes more than 410,000 peer-reviewed articles, and facilitates over 2.9 billion content downloads worldwide.

Biryukov highlighted the growing importance of Open Access publishing, emphasizing its benefits for authors, including increased visibility, broader dissemination, and faster communication of scientific discoveries to the global community. He also noted that Springer Nature actively supports conference proceedings as a valuable format for scholarly communication.

Importantly, researchers from Azerbaijan are currently offered a 50% discount on article processing charges (APC), aimed at encouraging greater participation in Springer Nature journals. The publication of special issues and international conference proceedings was also encouraged as part of efforts to enhance research collaboration and visibility.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, during which participants had the opportunity to discuss practical issues related to academic publishing and explore future cooperation with Springer Nature.
